Blastin' and Castin' in the Texas Outdoors

We havea lot of good times, the road was a drug when we started way back, our wheels rolled on steady, now its forgetting the race to find an open space and leaving that city far behind We’ll be up in the morning before the sun, since anything beats working on the job and everyone knows the early worm gets the fish. The world is your oyster, let the high times carry the low, walk where the sun is shining, lay your burdens down and think to yourself that it sure feels good feeling good again.

desperation fishing

Surf perch are easy to catch but they don't taste very good. I wonder if the bright purple stripes are a message from nature.

Here are a few more pictures I took at low tide. The tide change was from +6' to -2'.
Abalone, anenomes, and starfish...

Cool, I shared your pics with the kids.

Did you keep the abalone? You should try it, looks like a good catch.

Very nice, you do have some interesting critters over there. So did you eat any of em?

The abalone would have been very illegal to keep. I don't have an abalone card AND I was in a marine reserve. I kept 8 surf perch but they aren't very good. The meat tends to have a purple color and it has a distinct flavor.

The wildlife is pretty cool. With a tide change of nearly 8' you can see all kinds of things. It would be cool to take kids out there.
