Blastin' and Castin' in the Texas Outdoors

We havea lot of good times, the road was a drug when we started way back, our wheels rolled on steady, now its forgetting the race to find an open space and leaving that city far behind We’ll be up in the morning before the sun, since anything beats working on the job and everyone knows the early worm gets the fish. The world is your oyster, let the high times carry the low, walk where the sun is shining, lay your burdens down and think to yourself that it sure feels good feeling good again.

How to prepare for a Fishing Trip.

Lessons Learned:

Put your bags and gear in the truck the night before, that way you don't forget something important.

Often when you are going offshore you need to meet someone and pick them up. It is a good idea to make sure that both of you are aware of where your predetermined meeting place is and how to get there.

Never assume that just because someone is always late that they will be this time unless you want to hear about it all weekend.

It is always most polite to arrive having eaten already unless previously agreed upon to get food together. If you must eat by all means get fast food so that you don't leave someone waiting for no good reason.

Make absolutely certain that everyone has there fishing licences. The last thing you want to do is be standing at the counter of Wal-mart waiting for Fred to get off his break. Once you annoy the help at a place like Wal-mart they are much more likely to find some reason they can't sell you a license and make you go to Academy. Nothing is worse than already being late and having to make one more trip to Academy.

Always use the restroom before departure to avoid emergency situations.

Somebody said that we should let the women plan these trips. I think that was the best idea. We would always be 30 minutes early and no one would forget anything.

If we allowed the events coordinators that we are married to control of our fishing arrangements we would be on time and not forget anything but we would also need a lot larger boat to haul all of that extra stuff that isn't really necessary.

I know that when Lindsey and I go away for the weekend the car is nearly completely full.
