Blastin' and Castin' in the Texas Outdoors

We havea lot of good times, the road was a drug when we started way back, our wheels rolled on steady, now its forgetting the race to find an open space and leaving that city far behind We’ll be up in the morning before the sun, since anything beats working on the job and everyone knows the early worm gets the fish. The world is your oyster, let the high times carry the low, walk where the sun is shining, lay your burdens down and think to yourself that it sure feels good feeling good again.

chocolate bayou

I went to chocolate bayou on saturday. I fished from about 9:30 until about 2:00. I caught this slot red on a pink and green plastic.

I didn't paddle as far as I normally would. I let the wind blow me where it wanted and just drift fished. Here is the general area that I fished.

Is that an "eatin fish" I only ask because of the Amoco Chemicals Reservior being upstream?

I am a little concerned about eating that fish. chocolate bay is downstream of Amoco and Lyondell chemical plants. I also caught that fish very close to a large retention pond that extends way out into the bay. I have no idea what that is all about.

Yea, seems dicey. Feed it to someone inconsequential at an accelerated rate for an extended period of time then monitor them. It would help to have a solid footing on their “before” status, but I suppose a quick fingers and toes count may suffice. One thing is for certain, don’t eat the oysters in Chocolate Bayou!
